Hi Mark -
Sorry to hear of your problem. What Deere engine model and how many hours on
it, please?
Regards,
John
"Seahorse"
It's been such an uneventful trip so far, finally a little excitement.
Steaming up the waterway at MM340, I look at the voltmeter and see it is
reading lower than normal, 12.9v vs. the usual 13.7 or so. I pop down to
the engine room and find black fluid in the bilge and spraying around the
engine. We stop and anchor alongside the waterway just a mile or so short
of the Sunset Beach Pontoon Bridge, and kill the engine.
On investigation, the water pump pulley is wobbling wildly, the bearing gone
and balls falling out. About 2 qts of coolant is out and sprayed all over
everything nearby. I Call the the Myrtle Beach John Deere dealer, and
things look hopeful. He's to call back soon with word on whether he has the
parts in stock to rebuild the pump, or whether he must get them shipped in
tomorrow. I can probably catch a cab from an apartment house nearby to get
the pump to the dealer in the morning. It sure is great to have internet
access to find dealers, cabs, and the street address where you will be
landing the dinghy!
