Last week I saw a trawler with an eye in the bow just above the waterline. A
snubber was attached to it and was secured on the pulpit to be attached to
the rode with a chain hook. I haven't seen this on many trawlers. It seems a
good way to reduce the height of the rode attachment and lessen the length of
rode needed out when anchoring.
Is there some disadvantage I am not understanding and makes them uncommon
(in my experience)?
Thanks
