A good source of river info (including current, debris, etc) are the
people at Hoppies Marina just south of St. Louis. Granted it is just
a "look out the window" report, but these people know the river. I
did the northbound trip last April and May. I'd have to say not much
fun dealing with a 5 knot current and a whole forest of trees and
limbs floating downstream, not to mention the "submarine" channel
markers. Good luck.
