I think the 58YF is a better option than the 53YF, you get a lot of extra
space. the 5' dont' make much of a difference in maintenance, docking,
    etc...

a friend of mine has one and the cockpit is fantastic. Yet, he still has a
good sized aft deck, although about a foot smaller than mine.

I've run some hatts with full beam saloon (58MY and 54ED) and the issue
isn't docking, the lack of side decks makes no difference since the first
lines ashore are teh spring lines and they are right next to the pilothouse.
Visibility is an issue at night when backing into a slip but no big deal.
The big difference, to me, is the lack of ventilation on the aft deck.. on
the 53MY and 58YF you get a ton of wind coming in the wing door and when
anchored, even in Fl summers, it's never too hot back there. This is what i
miss the most when i'm on a full beam saloon boat. But yes, the extra space
    is VERY nice.

at hull speed, the 53s and 58s get about 1NMPG which isn't bad
    considering...
