I got one of those $20 GPS receivers from geeks.com and hooked it up to my PC that runs Coastal Explorer. Works great. I really don't know if these?receivers will work in all applications but they may be a solution for some situations. They're portable and have a long cable so it can be placed just about anywhere. Be aware that some (like mine) have a real strong magnet that allows it to be mounted on car roofs.?Heck, buy one and try it out - it should work well with the laptop.??
I just looked and Geeks has two different ones, both still around $20. I would think you could find these at other outlets also.
No connection to geeks.com, I just happened to have bought mine there.

Subject: Re: T&T: Splitting a GPS signal
There are some fancy options that someone will suggest, but first just try a
plain old terminal strip. My Garmin GPS feeds my VHF radio, SSB radio,
navigation computer and radar by just splitting the signal.

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?
