Jim,
Before you do that, go to your local WalMart and buy one of the low cost
Humminbird depthfinders. They sell for less than $100. I believe I paid $89
for a
Humminbird Pirhana. Mount the transducer on the inside of the hull in a glob
of silicone. If it works, you have saved a couple of hundred bucks. If it
doesn't, you can always mount the depthfinder in your dinghy. If you don't
have a
cored hull, there is a very good chance that it will work.
