    Bob, you make a good point. But.

    Don't remember if I pointed out that the original pump motor was fine. I
    didn't know there was a problem until the pump began to behave erratically
    and then I saw the pool of water. Water intrusion damaged the computer
    control; the motor is fine and it now powers a sailboat friend's autopilot.
    I figured the thing was shot and had no warranty 'coz I never filed the
    card. Just on my word, Shurflo sent me a replacement from the factory in
    Elkheart, Il. Got here Friday. They're sending me an overhaul kit for the
    second pump, due in today.

    So, now I have 3 good pumps with manufacturing dates of 5/07, 8/07 and 2/8.
    With their 3 year warranty I shouild be in Shurflo 5.7's for some time to
    come! By then, perhaps they'll have figured out the diaphragm material
    problem. At $169.74 from PPL, here: http://tinyurl.com/yu8x42 it seems to be
    a good value.
