Vinegar is fine as long as you don't let it sit in the mechanism. That comes straight from Peggie Hall. Also, if you're pumping vegetable oil into your holding tank, it'll float and make a nice oxygen barrier on top of the contents, assuring anaerobic (no oxygen) decomposition, which is what makes them stink so badly!

put in a Qatar cup of vegetable oil for the rubber parts. Never hurt our
electric head.
