When you're tuning it, make sure you have the correct offset for the
sideband being transmitted. We also inherited the same unit, it received OK but
transmit was intermittent due to bad contacts in the mic. I polished the
contacts in the mic to get it working when we off-shore one trip, when back at a
dock I replaced the mic and all is well.
