In anticipation of the arrival of our Selene 53,my wife and I, who have been
boating forever but never on a boat this size, decided to charter a similar
boat. We found it at Chitwood Charters in Longboat Key, FL. We spent 4 days on
board with a wonderful captain (Capt Mike) who was the perfect trainer-knew
when to be at your side and when to let you to your own devices, always calm,
knowledgeable and all around nice guy. We came away feeling we were ready for our
new boat, able to handle it, comfortable with the many systems and nuances of
this particular craft. The boat was one of the first 53s but has received
much TLC lately and is in excellent shape. For anyone thinking about a Selene,
Grand Banks (of which they have several) or similar craft and in need of
training or familiarization we'd highly recommend this experience. They also charter
bareboats.
No connection with Chitwood, just happy customers.
