I do not keep the boat connected to the dock water line for exactly this
reason. We fill our water tanks and use it from there.
Batteries are fairly high in the engine room, so water just touched the
bottom of them. Good thing as I don't feel like replacing 12 golf cart
batteries. Generator battery did go under though.
Thanks for your advice on engines and trannies. BoatUS has instructed us to
have the work professionally done, and they are locating someone to come
over today to do it. We are in fresh water, so at least I don't have the
salt issue to worry about. There was not even any mud or silt to deal with.
Just the crud that floated free from everywhere.
Still don't know how this happened. Since getting the water out we have had
no problems, and the bilge pump has only come on a couple of times for a few
seconds all morning. Most of that is from water still draining out from
everywhere, like carpet, etc.
If, and when, I find the culprit I will post it here. Hopefully it will save
someone else from going through this.
