T&T: Battery acid concentrations

    Just to add some more complication to a simple idea.

    When I was going to automotive mechanic school back in the 60's in Minnesota,
    I remember that battery manufacturers used different concentrations of acid
    for "warm" climates and "cold" climates. The cold climate batteries got a
    little higher concentration than the warm. I was talking to a Deck Representative
    and he told me that they had slightly lowered the concentration because they
    found it reduced internal corrosion and made the batteries last longer. So, why
    do we need to know? well, if you have a battery hydrometer for checking SG, on
    the new concentration batteries, they are fully charged right where the white
    and green come together. You can charge them till the cows come home and
    never get into the green zone. So, it is important to contact the manufacturer to
    see what acid concentration they use.
