Candy and Gary's comments reflect my own.

I have had excellent results with Xantrex Products from about five to seven
years ago: I use three of their 40Amp Statpower chargers aboard my boat, plus
a 2500watt/130 amp MSW Freedom inverter charger. I've posted extensively about
these products in the past. All four have been just fine.

Just to emphasize: Any resistive loads WILL ALWAYS work just fine from an MSW
inverter....like a coffee maker. But complex loads, like
microwaves,TV's,electronic equipment, motors, chargers as for computers, MAY
experience poor performance or failure...The manufacturer may be able to
advise you. My own microwave, for example, will not display time and functions
on the digital display but heats food justr fine. Since the display failed
during the first year, I assum it was the MSW function that defeated it.

I bought the MSW inverter/charger USED ,rebuilt and guaranteed for 90 days on
EBAY for about $550 including shipping; at that time a new unit cost about
$1,500. So the combo unit about doubled my charge capacity (from 120 to 250
amps) at about the cost of another new Statpower 40 with a remote control,
plus I got an inverter. A few weeks after I installed either my first or
second Statpower charger, I forget which, it burned out. Whichever one it was,
West Marine took it back and sent me a new one immediately. Then I found lower
    prices and switched retailers...

We have posted here in past years the product names taken over by Xantrex:
Trace is the only one that comes to mind right now, but there are two or three
others; Last I checked Victron,Charles and Mariner are quality marine
manufacturers independent of Xantrex, if that's important to you. Outback
brand has also been used by some on this list. PowerExpress, Vector Networks
Maxx, Coleman and Newmar are other names. It would be interesting if anyone
knows which names are under Xantrex, whether manufacturing has been
consolidated and only names are different or whether their different product
    lines are still independetly produced.

Somone (maybe Arild?) previously posted that Xantrex sends failed products
back to China for rebuild/refurburshment...but that may have changed over
    recent years..
