More and more marinas in our area (Puget Sound) are requiring to be
"named" on a marina tenant's insurance policy. I can't speak for
other marinas in our area, but ours (Squalicum in Bellingham) is
actually not so concerned about being "named" as having proof that
every tenant has liability insurance. So far, all they have asked
for from us is a copy of our insurance policy to put in their files.
But---- they are very tough about enforcing this requirement. I know
one long-term tenant who could not obtain sufficient liability
insurance for his immaculate, 1946 36' salmon troller (that he still
fishes regularly). So he had to leave the marina. Now, two years
later, he has been able to find affordable insurance and he returned
to our marina earlier this year. So it's probably worth asking your
marina how adamant they are about being "named" on the policy. It
may be that they'll be happy with just a copy.
