Not just 3 miles from shore, but 3 miles from the nearest point on the
whole US coastline, or any island in any direction.

The discharge of treated waste from a CG certified Type I or II is legal
in AK waters for all recreational vessels. Different rules apply to
cruise ships and other large commercial vessels.
