I purchase bound ledgers at Office Depot - don't have one here at my
land home or I could give you the brand - nicely covered and good
quality paper stock. Buy the size with the smaller number of pages
(around 150-200) - they last a couple of years without getting unduly
worn. The type I buy has two columns; the first is at the page left
margin where I put the time; the second is the rest of the page where I
put the comments I wish to make - anchor up and underway, fuel/engine
info, course/speed (not very often in the ICW), anchor down, passing
such and such object, waked by name of boat, observed sunset, etc. I
normally head each day's entry with the date, location, weather and
guest info. This is the "underway" log, not a maintenance log (for which
I use electronic spreadsheets and word processing), but a few things
like major maintenance items (replaced fuel tanks), fuel purchases and
oil changes show up in the underway log as well as the main or genset
    diesel maintenance log.
