I bought a Y - design tow line for my 13' dinghy that is made of this
strong webbing as shown in the West Marine and other catalogs.

It has two clips that attach to hard point already on the dinghy and
ends in a torpedo float and ring.

I was towing using the stainless through bolted bow ring but after 8
year of towing it suddenly pulled out while towing in Georgian Bay
    this summer
Luckily were were in a flotilla and go notified right away about the loss.

I bought it on eBay for $10 plus $ 6 shipping instead of over $50 at other sites
I got it today and it seems to be well made

See a comparable unit still for sale at
