We once rode a commercial cat across the Cozumel channel from Playa del
Carmen to the Island, 10 miles, I think. Standard issue was a purple tinted,
see through, plastic barf bag. The cabin held about 200 passengers, 15
across by 15 rows. The first row faced aft. Rows 2 through 15 faced forward.
We were in row 2, about 4 feet in front of me, facing me was a young Mayan
male, about 12.
Crossing the channel, the cat had this crazy pitching, rolling motion, where
it seemed all four points took their turns rising and falling. Everyone was
getting nauseous. The boy discharged his stomach's contents into the plastic
bag. Originally corn I believe. He then spent the remainder of the trip
holding it about chest high while it swung like a pendulum back and forth,
back and forth, with the contents putting a slimy film on the inside with
each swing.
To this day I don't like cats, neither the four legged kind, nor the two
hulled kind.
