David, to limit the "almond" smell in the spring try
this, it works for me.
-- Winterize you system with the pink stuff.
-- After you're done, disconnect the pressure hose
from your fresh water pump.
-- Set a portable air compressor to 40psi and attach
it to the pressure hose previously removed (facing the
boat's plumbing not the pump).
Go to each fresh water device and turn on the
water--one at a time. Do this a few times and you
will almost totally eliminate the pink stuff and
therefore the spring smell.
-- Disconnect the water line from the water tank to
the pump and turn the pump of for a few seconds to
pump out the pink stuff from the line.
-- In the spring run lots of water through the water
tanks that still have the hose disconnected or drains
open. This will eliminate or at least significantly
reduce the amount of dilluted pink stuff that you'll
be pumping through your system.
You might ask why put the pink stuff in if you're
going to blow the lines. It's just cheap insurance
for anything that may not get blown out.
