Hi Bob
Don't equalize unless the batteries are fully charged. The equalization
cycle is brutal, and will destroy the plates, releasing a strong and
pervasive sulphuric acid odour in the process.
Why not take them into a local battery shop and have them see if they can
recharge them with their industrial equipment? The guys I deal with here
have often a couple of batteries for me for hardly any cost.
