I have a Engel 45 that is now 6 years old that has been run 24 x 7 during
that period. The last 2 years as a freezer kept at 20 degrees, in 90 degree
heat in Texas in the summer - consumes about 18ah a day. No issues with this
unit. The 45 is the largest unit that consumes 2ah or less, the bigger units
go to 3 to 4ah. Your mileage could differ. The Engel and the SeaFrost were
the right solutions for me. The Seafrost is on the 3rd $40 solenoid and an
upgrade to a digital control, thermostat system. The SeaFrost can make 20lbs
of ice a day and keep the box between 33 and 38 degrees all day and night.

Does anybody have a source for a low profile or small size, stand alone
freezer. The smallest I've been able to find is still pretty big.
Thanks in advance for the input.
