We bought a Magma unit for the sailboat - they are similar to the Prime Fab
units except Magma suspends with braid and Prime Fab uses chain. It does
make an otherwise too-rolly anchorage okay, but it is hung from the boom end -
17 feet from the mast and so is likely a longer lever-arm than your davit will
provide, I'd think. Truelove is only 2/3 of your displacement, but has a
full-keel so you will likely get a better improvement than we did as we are
undoubtedly "stiffer." I'd buy a Magma and try it, then eBay it if it doesn't
work for you. We met a Nordhavn 46 a few years back who had Magmas suspended
from his outriggers. He told us that he had worn out the hinges once and had to
replace the braid with chain to avoid chafe. But he still was using them.
But there's no substitute for moving to a better anchorage!
On Seahorse (also a full keel sailing hull, but 75,000 lbs) we simply put
one or both paravanes in as needed.

John

P.S. I emailed Prime Fab once and they never replied. That's 3 strikes all
at once in my book.
>Has anyone purchased the anti-roll trays made by Prime Fabrication for use
at anchor? I was considering using one at the end of my davit boom for my
60,000 lb trawler while at anchor.

The price is steep and I was also considering having one made locally.
Anyone gone that route?
