    Rafael --

The bottom of the lower edge of the open array (the array itself, not the motor housing) is about 2+ feet?above the roof of the pilothouse so in total, the bottom of the open array is about 3 feet above the head of a 6 foot tall person standing in the pilothouse.? When either radar is operating, no one is allowed on either the foredeck or on the upper deck to avoid people being within the radar beam.? It is my understanding that the issue with exposure to the radar beam is an issue of being in the area affected by the transmitted beam which I understand to be a 360 degree plane centered on the magnetron.? Obviously, "plane" is an over simplification as the beam both rises and sinks from a true plane.? I have never heard that there was an issue with a radar unit above one's head but we are very careful to stay out of the beam of the transmitter.

I assume that others that may know more will chime in on this question.

I have two questions: How high is the lowest radar unit from the roof of the
pilothouse, and approximately what would you say is the minimum safe
distance from the radar to the heads of people standing inside the
    pilothouse?

    Thanks
