I took a lightning strike last Thursday while at the dock. I wasn't aboard, but my dockmates called me to say that they were pretty sure that my boat had been affected. My neighbor had his bilge pump contacts weld and they finally burned out before he realized it.
Thus far I've discovered that my pressure water system, battery charger (old LaMarche), GPS, two depth finders, tv (dc powered), vhf, small inverter and Bose Ipod player are toast. The 2 amp fuses didn't just burn into, but atomized within the fuse. Fortunately, none of my ac system seems to be affected. I found the master circuit breaker tripped, so I guess it saved the ac system.
I did dive on the boat on Saturday and couldn't feel any pits on the props, shafts, zincs, or thru hulls. Just wondering what experience some of you might have had with lightning strikes and problems down the road.
Thanks for any advice.
