The answer is: There are more horses' asses than there are horses!

Unfortunately, these guys don't have any manners nor do they care if they
are cursed on the VHF. If it makes you feel better, do so, but I have never
seen any of these guys slow while they were being lambasted all along a
waterway. All you can do is be aware of their approach and defend yourself. The
worst are the sportfish, three in a row, intent on overtaking you without
slowing in an inlet. One listee told me recently that he announces on 16 that he
will turn into the wake of the 1st boat and that makes them all slow and give
him a slow pass. I haven't tried that; I usually slow almost to a stop after
getting as close to the center as possible and then put my stern to their
    wakes as they pass.

    Regards,

Why are there so many large power boaters (40-50 feet) that run trimmed for
maximum wake and leave 6 ft or larger wakes in close proximity to small
boats and shore/docks? Just because they can afford a boat doesn't make
    them have any common sense.
