We did the rim route southbound a month ago and returned northbound last
week. At the marinas along the way, Carrabelle, Seinhatchee, Cedar Key, Crystal
River Tarpon Springs, etc you can usually find locals or transients who can
advise you when the weather looks right for your size boat try to get more
than one opinion!. We had no problems, weather was forecast about 10K (direction
is important hence the need for local advice) most of the time seas were 2-3
feet or less.
E'mail me if I can help further.
