Next message: Ron Rogers: "Re: T&T: Soltron Fuel additive"
Thread: "I used Soltron as an additive last season."
I admit I am a bit biased about fuel additives. I have studied the empirical data on additives and I have yet to read any data that shows me that Soltron does any thing to improve fuel stability or performance. Both Sta-Bil and PRI-G and PRI-D products do what they claim. You can go to www.priproducts.com and read the data from independent laboratories about testing. I admit I once work for PRI, but then we treated every Alaska Tanker and Cruise Ship going to Alaska to reduce smoking. The product is a commercial product that is also used by power plants on the East Coast. In my mind any product that hasn't passed the commercial or empirical test is just another additive. I challenge Soltron to provide me with any ASTM 2274 Accelerated Stability Test or ASTM 525-98 Induction Period Method Test that proves that Soltron does anything to improve fuel stability or performance. I have read this thread many times and I see many misinformed statements regarding fuel stability and fue
l performance. It all comes goes down to chemistry, and according to my sources, enzymes do not work on hydrocarbons. Another way I look at additives is to look at their MSD sheets (Material Safety Data Sheet). PRI has amine and diamines in its formula which is what you get in all the fuel additives at the gas pump today. Techron and other fuel stabilty additives from the refiners were created to stabilize fuel in the 30 day pipeline which supplies the general public.
I will be glad to discuss these chemistries if anyone disagees with my assumptions.
