Hi Tim,
Yes I got several. The general consensus is that both will work but the 16 will have faster signal acquisition on cold boot.
Both are WAAS - Wide Area Augmentation System compatible. That will give max accuracy.
I think you can't beat 30 bucks and a laptop for instant chartplotting.
What plotting software are you going to use?

I'm getting ready to buy one of them for the same reason as you but I can't tell if 16 is better then 12 channels.
