In Jan or Feb of 08 we will transit the Panama Canal en route to the North
East (Boston, Nantucket, Maine?...). I've been saving postings that go into
detail about anchorages, experiences and so forth, but I wanted to ask the
list for a suggested must do itinerary. If you were to be asked, What are
the MUST DO's when traveling from FL to the NE (and back), what would you
say would be on that list. An example of my Pacific NW list would be:

    a. Victoria B.C.: Must experience the age old English Capital of BC. Tea
at the Empress Hotel is wonderful. The BC museum is great. A harbor tour
    wonderful...

    b. Buchart Gardens: From Todd Inlet (or Victoria). Garden tour and dinner
at the nicer of the facilities is a high point for every trip we make to BC

    c. Salt Spring Island: Saturday market

    d. Chatterbox falls: The quintessential PNW cruising destination, remote,
    beautiful, rewarding...

    e. Port Townsend: Point Hudson Marina, tour a city stopped in time in the
    mid 1800's

    f. Roche and Friday Harbors: Marquee PNW marinas

    g. West coast of San Juan Island: Killer Whale watching, just look for the
flotilla of Whale Watching boats, almost a sure thing in the summer

    h. La Conner: Small town on a slew, watch the current and eat at dinner at
Kristen's, breakfast at the bakery at the south end of main street, shopping
    at Champaign Cove

    i. Gorge, Gulf Islands, BC: Dinner at the Floathouse restaurant, rivals
any restaurant on any mainland, the walk back to the boat at sunset is
    stunning

    j. Seattle: Bell Harbor Marina: Tie up at the Seattle waterfront and
spend a few days in the city. Great restaurants: Anthony's Home Port or
Palisade at Elliot Bay Marina, Chinooks on Lake Union

This is my list of highpoints, and I'm sure others have theirs. I hope to
go to Active Captain and add reviews for each of these locations. I put
this together off the top of my head, perhaps after others have contributed
their suggestions I could make suggestions on a trip itinerary based on
sequential travel to each spot? Thanks, scott
