T&T: Caribbean Island hopping

I'd like to know if any of the listees has experience or comments on
cruising the Caribbean Islands. I am thinking of a route down the Bahamas to
Dominican Republic then Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as recommended in Bruce
Van Sant in Passages South. I am thinking of doing this in a trawler like a
Monk 36 or GB 36 classic.
