Bob,
Seahorse came to me with a "proper setup" to blend the used lubeoil with the
fuel. The reason was not to save money. but to save the environment. The PO
cruised the Canadian Maritimes, Labrador and Greenland each summer for many
years. At 5 gallons per (main) engine oil change, where do you put it? To say
nothing of the pony engine. This became even more important on his "Round the
Horn" passage as he called it; from Washington State to Rhode Island. At one
change per 250 hours that's a lot of oil to dispose of. So he blended it
into one of the two fuel tanks at the suggested (by Racor) rate of 2%. After I
bought the boat I disabled this feature, but what's left makes one hell of a
filtration system!
Regards,
John

> You will likely get responses pro and con but my take is....what could you
possibly save by burning a few gallons of oil? The possible harm to the
engine with metal particles in the oil or even just having to change to oil
filters sooner would be more than I would want to deal with. I would
eliminate the risk, dispose of it and burn clean fuel.
