Take the can of paint to your local hardware store and have them put it on
the paint shaker for a few minutes. This will loosen the solids and redistribute
them throughout the paint liquids. I have had five year old cans of bottom
    paint revitalized in this way.

Incidentally, it is best to buy bottom paint in the fall when the dealers
want to get rid of their inventory. Many people simply will not buy old paint.
Also many dealers drastically reduce the price of dented cans or those with torn
labels. After all, who wants to buy paint in a damaged can. The boat wouldn't
    like it.
