Batteries benefit from cold protection as well. As do compasses...I would
also winterize a boat in Michigan even in a heated area.

I can think of no marina In the Michigan or Ohio area, and definitely not
Ontario, that will allow you to keep power on your boat 24 hrs to even think
of doing what you suggest. Power failures and liability.
Bad practice, to many fires have been recorded.
The last sentence you have says it all.
Fully charged batteries completely unhooked from any wiring and wiped down
do very well.
