Hello All,
With the California boat registration fee being
only $5.00 per year, and only requiring attention
once every 2 years (a 10 dollar check gets you a
sticker valid for 2 years) I never even thought
once about Federal Documentation.
It costs more, requires annual renewal, and I can
not find any advantage to having it.
Anybody know a good reason to use Federal
Documentation?
I heard there was supposed to be a problem with
international radio permits, but the web site I
was referred to about getting a boat license for
VHF, SSB, and HAM radio indicated one could either
enter the documentation OR state registration
number on the form.
The Mexican Consulate in San Diego also indicated
there was no problem with California state
registered boats and radio usage, as long as the
boat had proper Federal radio licensing.
Anything I don't understand here?
Not that I would be at all shocked to discover
that there were MANY things about this subject I
don't understand.
