    Please provide the reference to the USCG regulations or CFR that states you
    can NOT display state registration numbers on a documented boat.

    Marvin, as stated in a previous post, the USCG site says that you may not
    display state registration numbers if USCG documented. It's not likely that
    anyone would say anything if you did, as the assumption would be that your
    boat is simply just not documented. Running the state registration numbers,
    that's the 4" decals using the WA 9999 AA format and not the decal that may
    coincidentally use the same syntax, is basically the same thing as running
    license plates from two different jurisdictions.
