     Oh yeah. And Manufacturers PROVED that all
    'infant mortality' issues of solid state
    electronics was caused by 'static discharge'.
     They continued to display pretty pictures that
    seemed to support their position. Even 10 years
    after all production facilities had already
    installed complete static elimination procedures
    and protocols.
     Amazingly enough, the ONLY way to eliminate the
    problem of 'infant mortality' in electronics
    REMAINED to be the use of increased heat aging.
     Literally putting the product into an "oven"
    where it is operated at an ambient temperature of
    120 degrees F for at least 24 hours.
     That causes the 'infant mortality' to occur, thus
    one can repair or rebuild the product BEFORE
    shipping it to the customer.

     Thus the reason that "Consumer Reports"
    recommends AGAINST buying extended warrantees on
    electronic products.
