    Gentlemen,
From a sailboat person...I can state that much of
what you are describing is NOT sailboating behavior
but rather rude, discourteous, dangerous ego driven
    BOATING behavior....
Indeed my 26 ft sailboat has seen such behavior
in Barnegat Channel, thrown completely 180, pitched
poled and damn near swamped....by a Hatteras 50....who
    never once slowed down.....
Should I categorize this as typical Power Boat
Behavior.....generalizing that every boat without a
sail is a protracted penis boat???
I am convinced that the members here are asking
and answering right of way questions in such a
forthright way....that real boaters are indeed out
there ....(for me the person who holds the door in the
mall is the captain I want to go to sea with)
I am sure you are all aware of the critical
difference from a person who is over-tacking to avoid
loosing head way and/or control and a show off with no
regard for anyone.....I have witnessed the worst in
    San Francisco Bay....

I personally will rarely put sails up in any
channel....they are way too unreliable a power
source(although the purest I have sailed with refuse
to use the iron genny for even docking, and sailboats
    are notoriously underpowered without sailpower)
Sailing in a channel for me is pushing past my
comfort level demanding concentration that must be
taken from other duties....(like watching the wake
from frustrated deep sea fishing tournament
    losers).....
       Gee was I just generalizing?????

With Respect for all the boaters out there,
              Pat Fitzsimmons,
              Forked River, NJ
