Hey list, a question for you watermaker guru's. I have a HRO100 that we are reviving from the dead. I had to replace some of the brass fittings and flow meter. The membrane and membrane vessel was totally shot so had to remake vessel and of coure HRO doesn't support this old of model. Well, with parts we manufactured we got the thing running and the question is, there is a high pressure pump that has an oil resevoir with the filler cap on top of the pump. Oil seeps out of the cap which is only a pressure fit, plastic cap. The hole for the cap is threaded. I have a metal cap that will thread into the hole but I'm sure that will seal the resevoir and I imagine pressure will build within. Finally the question, will there be internal pressure inside the pump and if so will it cause any problems for the pump?
Second question, I mixed 1.25 pounds of pickle salt to 5 gal of water, boy was that salty, and then ran through HRO. The water tasted ok but different. Can anyone who uses watermaker water advise on how the water tasted to them. I used the water mixture because I was not near the boat. I also ran 5 gal of clean water through before I shut the system down. I will have a sample tested before we start using it for consumption. By the way, if anyone has any parts around for the old HRO100/200 or 300 please advise. Thanks for the help in advance. Capt Ken and Adm Anita, Family Fun, Seward, Alaska
