"learned two things: a. the lock master shouted at me that I should have
been at the stern as the bow is much easier to handle and b. My wife is
going to need some kind of assist to make her life easier tending the line.
Having the admiral not have a good experience in the locks isn't
complimentary to going around the world some day. Hope this makes sense"
Sorry this does not make sense at all!!!!
Here is an idea: YOU handle the lines and secure your wonderful boat and let
the "Admiral" do the maneuvering from the Flying bridge/ pilot house. Which
one of you are the strongest? Line handling do require some strength you
know.
Any couple going cruising should have both partners being able to do the
"hard" work of moving the levers to steer the boat and I'm proud to say that
Peggy is as good if not better at handling our trawler and I'm darn good at
handling the lines. I do not need to stand at the wheel yelling orders to
the wife as is seen all too often and is a pet peeve of mine! BTW Peggy has
given seminars about this topic at several Trawler Fests with great success.
