Gil asked: So, what did they fine you for, the fire extinguishers or PFD or ???
There were two items on the citation:
a. The fire extinguishers were not USCG approved
b. The fire extinguishers were not approved for marine use
That was it.
Also, just to clear up the confusion, someone said "I don't get it, you know what they are looking for...". the surprise for me was that even though I purchased the boat from a US dealer, it wasn't equipped with USCG approved fire extinguishers and life ring. Since I got the boat the same way everyone else did, I assume 150 or so other Camano owners are in the "same boat" so to speak.
I did go to my Nordhavn today, and in fact it does have USCG certified fire extinguishers and life ring. I guess it's all up to the US dealer to do a good job.
