About the radio's being below decks.. When I went to the Annapolis
boat show I went around and counted the number of Show boats that had
mikes near the helm and the informal count was 1 out of 10. I would
make fun of my sailing friends because they wouldn't run there
radio's when out on the water, they would say it eats electricity, or
I couldn't hear it if I wanted to anyway. Well, this past spring one
of those gentleman went up the ICW and out on the open water with me
from Stuart to Annapolis. After that trip and dealing with people
not answering the radio, not only did he upgrade his VHF he added
added a RAM mike at the helm -AND- bought a portable VHF so he could
listen to 13. If you happen to hail a Beneteau 343 named "Over the
Moon" and he answers you can thank me..

    LOL

    John
