SNIP:I would like to hear from folks that use the various air cards in their
laptops, which brands and also which service providers,ie, verizon,
cingular, or sprint. What quality of coverage did you experience and what
types of plans did you have ( non business)?

REPLY: We have been using a Verizon Air Card aboard Irish Ayes since we
started our long-term cruise in October 2006. Since leaving Knoxville, TN,
we have traveled down the TN River, Tenn-Tom etc, to the Gulf. After
crossing the Gulf we traveled across the Okeechobee, up the east coast of FL
to Cocoa Beach, and then down the FL coast to Key West. We anchored out
most of the time we were not staying at a particular place for more than a
few days. The only place we have NOT had coverage was on the lower Tombigby
River in Alabama, and at Boca Chita State Park On Biscayne Bay in FL. when
we anchored there. We couldn't be happier with the service, speed of
connection, Broadband speed of sending and receiving, and the ability to
connect just about anywhere. So, in nearly 3,000 miles of cruising, we have
stayed connected with friends and family quite well with Verizon.

YMMV, and we have no connection to Verizon except that we pay them $59.95 a
month for the service and are satisfied customers.
