My latest experiment consists of a slide show of Coastal Entrance Bars.
Starting in Washington State and ending at Bodega Bay, just above San
Francisco.
Each new version of a video that I have posted has had some new trick or
improvement which generally needs some tweaking to get just right if it
is to view well on You Tube. The Bar slide show contains photos from
various sources, including the Army Corps of Engineers and NOAA. Until I
have built something with the various photo types I can never be sure
just how well they will display.
One tip which I will pass on. If you output and upload to You Tube in
Quick Time format the length of time before the video will appear on the
site is faster and the quality of the displayed video is better. It
seems that You Tube does little or no conversion on Quick Time files.
The experiments will continue until the moral improves or the
experimenter collapses. In the meantime, you can assume that the Bar
Crossing video will become some kind of Bar Crossing Guide. If you would
like to see what DEPOE BAY really looks like in the sunshine, go take a
look at the video. After all, the entrance is only 50 feet wide, in
solid rock, for God's sake.
Some years ago, I wrote out a format for a guide to crossing a bar. It
consisted of an introduction, a description of a bar and some appendix
material. The format was targeted at a written book or pamphlet. A video
presentation could use that format, but the process is so much different
that I am going to have to rethink the strategy. You should expect to
see routine experiments along this line, while I decide what works.
If you want to follow along with this particular experiment, I think the
best way to do it is to go to You Tube and "subscribe" to my channel. I
have not tried this out, but I think you will get a message whenever
there is an update. It may be necessary to break this into a separate
"Group", the "Bar Crossing Group"???, Yikes.
Here is the URL again.
