A week or so ago there was a discussion about grounding at the mouth of the
Alligator River. I passed through that exact area yesterday and guess what?
I had a soft grounding and was stuck for a few minutes.

I was extremely prepared for transiting this area. We made use of all aids
available to us. We did not, in any way, rely on the electronics. There
were quite a few comments about this when the original posting was made.
The reality is that this area is an absolute hazard to navigation for
anything that draws more than 5 feet unless you have local knowledge. We
continuously heard groundings that were happening at the spot all day long.

I put a chart snippet of the area on my blog - www.mvacappella.blogspot.com
    - along with an explanation and analysis of the area.
