T&T: insurance by off shore registration

     For about 5K startup and 1.5K per year one can sell your boat to a company in the Caymen Islands which you own. The limit of your liability will not exceed the value of the boat. There are no property taxes in the Caymen Islands. You must leave the US (internatonal waters) at least once per year. Sale of the yacht in ther US would trigger tax consequences. Many larger yachts use this arrangement to limit liability and taxes as well as provide confidential ownership. I wonder if this would make sense for smaller yachts. Are there hidden disadvantages?
