I just spoke with my independent agent in Florida that writes for ACE, and
she claims that all Forida boats are likely to see significant increases
with ACE esp those boats older than 10 years old. She says boats over 10
years old will take a significant hit. She is getting other quotes, e.g.
Atlass (we already know what they did to some Florida trawlers already). She
also confirmed that BoatUS was the only company she knew that would write
liability only. ACE will not write liability only according to her. Also,
ACE will only accept a maximum of 5% deductible. I asked if it would make a
difference if I accepted a 10% or 15% deductible and she claimed that would
only write a max of 5% and that "might" reduce the premium "a little bit".
She is crunching the numbers.
A friend of ours insured thru State Farm and got a very reasonable quote
with essentially the same numbers I had in my old ACE policy, so they are
also crunching some numbers.
