Need some feedback on a windless problem. My windless (maxwell 2200) suddenly started tripping the breaker with or without load. I disassembled the windless and took it to the local servicing dealer. They bench ran it for 10 minutes without issues. I also ran it with jumper cables off my truck, again without problems. It appears I have some kind of failure in the wiring or a component.
I put a voltmeter on the motor terminals and it measured 7.5 volts for the short duration it ran. The house bank is fully charged, so somehow there is a something causing a significant voltage drop. The cables and connectors appear in great shape and the connectors are tight. Could a failure in the relay cause this? Is the motor suspect? A few things as additional symptoms/facts
The windless performed fine and failed suddenly.
It ran for 10 minutes on the bench without problems
All connectors and wires look brand-new, no corrosion or loose wires. Boat is only 2 years old.
The breaker (50 amp) trips even only the negative and a single positive is connected. The second positive was completely disconnected, still resulting in a tripped breaker.
Im assuming I have a failure that is resulting in the voltage drop? Im assuming 7.5 volts is way low for a windless under no load. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
