Recently there was a thread concerning teflon in contact with petroleum
products I recalled using it, in previous jobs, on fuel or hydraulic systems in
agricultural machinery many, many times without problems.
So I sent the following question to DuPonts website: "Are teflon tape or
parts made of teflon affected by diesel or gasoline?"
I received this answer today:
"Steve. Teflon* not affected by diesel fuel or gasoline so long as you keep
within the upper temperature limits: PTFE - 500F, FEP - 400F, PFA - 500F."

I do remember when using teflon tape (as someone else mentioned) we always
left two or three threads bare to keep shreds of teflon out of valves and
pumps downstream. When teflon sealant became available in tubes it eliminated
the problem of shreds in the system.
