Hal is correct about the boat population of Clear Lake and also about the
Rockport and Port A. Clear Lake is good if you need boat parts or services but
is fairly pricey by Texas standards and very crowded on most weekends. There
are a few, smaller towns with all levels of marinas and facilities that might
be better suited to your temperment. I would suggest you look at Rockport and
Port A but also at such places as Palacious (sp?), Matagorda, Port O'Connor,
Port Isabel and Port Lavaca. Light on boat stuff but long on laid back,
small town friendliness.
