The trick is not to believe anyone who has a vested interest in the topic
and is in a position to add their bias to the metrics. Personally, I like
Manatees because they make me look handsome, but basing legislation on
metrics provided by the Manatee protection groups is insane as many Florida
municipalities have discovered.
Ice ages come and go, but not in our lifetimes. Watching the weather for
"record highs and lows" is instructive and proves it got both pretty toasty
and pretty cold a hundred years ago. On the other hand, a few more palm
trees in the Carolinas would be nice...
I've found the best weather site for cruising is www.wunderground.com you
pay an annual fee of $5 and all the advertising goes away. You can set up
specific icons for tropical weather on your desktop and blogs are much more
detailed than the 5pm news...
